About

Hey y’all,

shakespeare

My name is Becca and I am so happy to have you here. Let me tell you about this blog’s title. I have been playing golf since I was about nine years old and I have gone through just about every level of hate and love of the game that you can experience. I played competitively all through school which helped me earn a college scholarship to continue my dream of becoming an LPGA pro. I grew up in a Christian household, but like many of my peers, I did not attend church my first semester away at school. I quit the golf team at the University of Missouri at the end of my first semester and ended up finding a church family around Valentine’s Day. I was baptized on April 28th, 2010 and it was a day that turned my life around. When I quit the golf team, I lost my scholarship making Mizzou an expensive school for me. I decided to transfer that summer and landed at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. I joined the golf team there and went on to have four great years while getting my degree in Youth & Family Ministry.

I also spent every summer for 13 years at a camp in Drasco, Arkansas called Camp Bgodman-chapelear Track. This place has my heart and the chapel literally has my name. After 13 summers, you get to name something at CBT and my obvious choice was my favorite place, chapel. I spent five of those summers as a counselor teaching golf, speaking at chapel, and leading nightly devotionals. CBT helped form my passions into what they are today; working with kids, working in sports, and serving God through a philanthropically focused organization.

After graduation I started an internship with ALSAC which is the fundraising organization for St. Jude Children’s Research hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. My internship was in Sports Marketing and the main focus was the FedEx St. Jude Classic. After my internship, I worked for ALSAC in the Youth Programs department. I started the Masters of Sports Commerce program at the University of Memphis after a year of working. I left ALSAC that December to pursue a full-time career in sports. I worked for the Memphis Open (a professional tennis event), interned at the FedEx St. Jude Classic (for the tournament this time), and was a receptionist at a string of law firms around Memphis. Needless to say, I hoped around quite a bit. In January of 2017, I started a new job as a Coach at The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas and am loving having all of my interest tied into one wonderful package!

I have owned my own jewelry business. I was once an Art major. I have taught English in South Korea. I can talk while my mouth is completely closed. I grew up in a house with two of Michael Jackson’s llamas buried in the back yard. I am an only child. I love peanut butter, coffee, and peppermint. I once sang the Oscar Mayer theme song at a State Fair. I wish I was best friends with Lorelai Gilmore, actually, I oftenIMG_1695 think I am her. Hence, the coffee from Luke’s Diner in this picture. I performed a dance recital in front of Brittany Spears and Justin Timberlake back in their full denim days. I am constantly trying to become fluent in Italian (because it is so common in the US). It is pretty hard to get to know me, I’m awfully guarded. I don’t always have a filter; ask any of my friends, especially those I have traveled with. I am an INTJ which I have heard is the rarest personality type for women, thus I am a unicorn and an enigma. I will post about my dogs, (and all dogs) fairly often.

So basically this blog ties together all of my favorite things and is here for me to share some insight into the life of a 20 something who has some big dreams. I will eventually write a daily devotional book (there will be plenty of blog posts about that development). I will eventually start my dream non-profit organization (it is golf related, and will have many related posts as well). And I hope to one day travel the world. I’ve lived a pretty lucky and blessed life so far and I can’t wait to share more of it with all of you!

Enjoy,

-Becca Sims Godman
